Poor Man Wifi (II)

Files under Networking, WIFI | 13 Comments | 558 views

Very long time go, I have make a post before regarding Poor Man Wifi, which use some cheap halker tools such as parabolic cookware, to build this device. This article is once my my favorite post, make my blog flow around the world, and gain million of traffic to my blog.

Not long ago, I have build this Poor Man Wifi for the Wifi Treasure Hunt, but too bad, the research fail actually :P and there are some mistake and I need to correct it again.

Here is another type of poor man wifi which use some simple and cheap tools to enhance the wifi receiving function. Enhance to 16db, just from a normal low db wifi receiver.

I have already collect some of the tools and on my way to develope this device. Hopefully this experiment works and be better then my previous experiment (iCalvyn’s Cantena)For sure, if I successful tested this device, I will make some comparison base on with and without modification, other then hardware, software also play an important role, to judge the Wifi signal during the survey. Software that I use will be introduce in my next post. Probably next 2 days!

Today iCalvyn.com give history lesson :) Back to 8 year ago!!!

Does you guys still remember there are a bug called “Y2K Bug“? Is regarding the computer date issue, which the computer only 2 digit for the year such as year 99, instead of year 1999. So when come to year 2000, the figure will turn to “00″

“00″ may be mean 1900 or 1800, that time your does not exist yet! Possible your account balance will become “0″, so where your hard earn money?

Y2K card

On that time, computer are still very expensive, price is around RM4000 to RM5000, of course most of the organization not afford to change all the PC, so they invest for this Y2K card. If not mistaken, this card cost them thousand over per pcs.

After install this Y2K card, the computer able to display 4 digit for the year. All the issue are solve.

Y2K card

This card has been testing and testing again before it sold by a lot inventor, although this problem has been solve, but still people worry on the system crash at year 2000.

I still remember people worry on END OF THE WORLD. According to them, they are worry about the military system. Once the system goes mad, and the nuclear boom simply launch and target in different area, the world will be gone!!!Haha! What a funny joke!

For this card, I am just wonder how much it worth now? :)

Some how setting the jumper is take times, and if without much technical background, will unable to attach successful. Even with technical background, some hard drive did not have jumper setting diagram also cost the IT personnel a lot of time to try and error.

Withdraw Paypal fund to Debit Card

Files under PayPal | 17 Comments | 704 views

This topic become more and more popular few month ago when Paypal announce that allow to withdraw fund to debit card. Here come my experience…

Experience 1
2 month ago, about the time to cash out my Paypal fund, around December 2007, paypal suddenly send an email for me mention that my Public Bank Debit Card has been expired. After few email chit chat with Paypal technical support, they are unable to solve my problem, the only solution Paypal give me is to add another card… I have no idea why, so I call to public bank and ask, as expected, they can’t answer my question, so I send an email to them. After a week, Public Bank call me and I again explain, they agree to give me a new card. Hoo…Ray…but need to wait a week time.

My 2 cent
May be when I add in my debit card 1 year ago, Dec 2006, I did not verify it. After 1 year, the PayPal’s system will remove it. So beware if you don’t verify your account, faster verify it before it is too late.
